Vicky Kaushal’s Mahavatar Release: People have been hyped for Vicky Kaushal’s mythological blockbuster (directed by Amar Kaushik, bankrolled by Maddock Films) for what feels like forever already. But now? The Christmas 2026 release date is looking shakier than my Wi-Fi during a thunderstorm.
Vicky Kaushal’s Mahavatar Release Delayed
Vicky’s schedule is quiet a mess. The dude’s stuck in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love and War for, get this, 200 days straight. That shoot is a marathon, running all the way through late 2025. Mahavatar isn’t exactly the kind of movie you can squeeze in on weekends he needs a whole different look, and we all know bulking up isn’t a quick errand. Vicky himself joked about how tough it is to pack on muscle these days, especially after dropping weight for his current gig.
Loads of VFX
This film’s got CGI out the wazooworld-building, creatures, the whole shebang. People who know this stuff are saying, even if they magically finish shooting on time, post-production is gonna eat up MONTHS. Just look at what happened with Adipurush, Brahmāstra, or Ranbir’s still-MIA Ramayan. Mythological epics eat time for breakfast, no matter how many computers you throw at them. If the release gets postponed to late2027 release, it wouldn’t shock me.

Chamunda Release Lined Up
Maddock’s got another biggie lined up for December 2026 too Chamunda, which is horror-comedy, so totally different vibes. But you try dropping two blockbusters at once, especially with promo and marketing teams already stretched thin. Someone’s gonna blink, and honestly, it’s probably Mahavatar getting bumped.
Vicky Kaushal’s Mahavatar Release: What’s the studio saying?
The official word is still December 2026, and all the promos are sticking to that. But if you’ve read the gossip (and who hasn’t?), there’s a ton of smoke and probably a pretty big fire, most insiders are betting on a date change announcement any day now.
So, yeah, the big holiday release might be a pipe dream. But honestly, I’d rather wait for an epic that’s actually, you know, epic, instead of a rushed mess. Vicky’s too good to waste on a half-baked mytho flick.
