Hera Pheri 3 Dispute: Fans have been waiting a long time for Hera Pheri 3, especially because people want to see Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty together again. For some time, things looked better. Paresh Rawal’s exit issue had cooled down, and many people thought the film was finally moving in the right direction. But now, the movie is once again stuck in fresh legal trouble.
Recent reports say the biggest problem is not the cast right now, but the rights of the franchise. Several outlets have reported that a legal fight over who really owns the Hera Pheri rights has made the future of the film uncertain. The Indian Express and Hindustan Times both reported in February 2026 that the film had landed in copyright trouble after a producer from the South moved the Madras High Court claiming the rights were not with Firoz Nadiadwala.

What the Rights Fight is About?
The fresh debate started after producer Vijay Kumar said that the rights belong to him and not to Firoz Nadiadwala. In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Vijay said he had allowed only one film earlier and later found out that more was being planned. He said, “After the second film, he also announced a third one. That’s when we became aware of the situation and wrote to him, but he kept avoiding us. Eventually, we had to approach the court, and the court has made it very clear that the rights are with us.”
Vijay also claimed that things became more serious when there were attempts to move the rights elsewhere. He said, “For the third instalment, he did not respond positively. Instead, he was trying to sell or transfer it in some way to a third party. That’s when we approached the court and filed an IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) case. He has appeared in court but continues to delay proceedings. I am not sure what he is trying to achieve, but the court has been very clear that the rights are with us, and we are confident of getting that order as well,”

This matches the broader reporting from February that a South Indian production company had gone to court saying Nadiadwala was allowed to make only one Hindi remake and then went beyond that. Because of this case, the project is now facing another big delay.
Affect on Film and Cast
Even with all this legal tension, Vijay Kumar also made it clear that he still sees the old trio as the strongest option for the film. He said, “Naturally, as of now, the team of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, and Suniel Shetty remains the core cast. As things stand, it makes the most business sense in every way for Akshay Kumar and the team to be a part of it,”
That means the rumours about a totally new cast or rights already being sold should be treated very carefully. Based on the latest reporting, the real situation is still blurry because of the court case, and the legal fight has not been fully settled yet. Priyadarshan also said in late February 2026 that the film would not go on floors this year because of the legal mess around it.
