Delhi Rithala-Kundli Metro Corridor: The Delhi Metro Rithala-Kundli corridor which is still one of the approved ones under Phase IV is going to fortify metro connectivity between northwest Delhi and Haryana’s Kundli-Sonipat belt. This 26.463-km stretch will push the present Red Line ahead from Rithala and then take it towards Narela, Kundli and Nathupur, sort of building a straight metro connection deeper into the National Capital Region or NCR.
The Union Cabinet approved the project in December 2024 at an estimated cost of ₹6,230.99 crore. It is being implemented by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), with the original completion schedule set at four years from the date of sanction.
Delhi Rithala-Kundli Metro Corridor
The project is not yet operational. As of the latest available government and DMRC-related updates, preliminary work is in progress. The Centre’s infrastructure monitoring data lists the Rithala-Kundli project with a target completion date of January 2029. The latest monitoring information also records cumulative expenditure of ₹72.51 crore, while physical progress was still shown as 0% in the January 2026 flash report.
A tender was issued in May 2026 for construction of the boundary wall of the Sanoth depot, while another July 2026 government tender relates to shifting a 400-kV transmission line that affects the Rithala-Kundli corridor. A recent DMRC network document continues to list Rithala-Kundli as a 26.463-km Phase IV corridor with 21 stations.

The corridor will have 21 new stations beyond the existing Rithala station. The route, starting from the existing Red Line’s Rithala station, is planned as follows:

The Rithala station is the existing Red Line station; the officially approved 26.463-km extension comprises 21 stations along the new corridor.
Which Areas Will Benefit?
The biggest beneficiaries are expected to be residents of Rohini, Barwala, Bawana and Narela and also commuters going towards Kundli and Nathupur in Haryana.
Along with that, the corridor will make it easier to reach the industrial belts in Bawana and Narela and it should deliver a swifter public transport alternative for people who live and work along the Delhi-Haryana boundary.
Project Cost and Completion Timeline
The approved project cost comes to about ₹6,230.99 crore. The Union Cabinet had earlier set a four year construction window from the date of sanction. At the moment, Government infrastructure monitoring papers show January 2029 as the target completion date.
The project is being rolled out by DMRC, which operates like a 50:50 joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi for this assignment.
