Alpha OTT Release: Alia Bhatt and Sharvari’s action film Alpha is coming to Netflix on August 28, 2026. The movie was released in cinemas on July 3 and is now reaching viewers who missed it on the big screen. The Netflix release also comes during the Raksha Bandhan weekend.
Netflix announced the release with a poster showing Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol. The streaming platform invited viewers to “join the Alpha gang”. Alpha is directed by Shiv Rawail and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films. It is the seventh film in the YRF Spy Universe and its first female-led movie.

What Is Alpha About?
Alia plays Sita, while Sharvari plays Durga. The story follows Sita as she becomes part of the Alpha programme and discovers important truths about her past and family. Durga is connected to her as her twin sister. Anil Kapoor plays Colonel Vikrant Kaul and Bobby Deol plays the villain Colonel Fateh Singh Lakhawat. Hrithik Roshan also appears as Kabir from War.
The film mixes spy missions with a story about family and a secret military programme. Its action scenes are a major part of the movie.

How was Alpha Received?
Alpha got mixed reviews after its theatrical release. Some reviewers liked the action and Alia and Sharvari’s performances, while others felt the writing and story were weaker. The Indian Express gave it 1.5/5, while Times of India rated it 2/5.
Now, Alpha gets another chance with its Netflix release as more viewers can watch the YRF Spy Universe film from home.
According to Koimoi’s final figures, the film made about ₹59.29 crore net in India, or ₹69.98 crore gross, while overseas collections were around ₹29.09 crore. That puts its worldwide gross at approximately ₹99.07 crore.
So basically, it came very close to ₹100 crore worldwide but didn’t quite cross it. The film reportedly had a budget of around ₹130 crore, so its theatrical performance was considered disappointing.
