Apple M5 Ultra GPU: Apple’s new M5 Ultra has appeared again on Geekbench. This time the test looks at its graphics performance. The result comes from a Mac Studio running the M5 Ultra with 256 GB of unified memory. The system uses a 36-core CPU, with 12 cores in one group and 24 in another. Apple’s M5 Ultra can be configured with up to an 80-core GPU.
M5 Ultra Gets 360,019 Points
The Mac Studio scored 360,019 points in Geekbench 7’s Metal GPU test. The result was uploaded on September 16, 2026, and the machine was running macOS 27.0.
For comparison an M3 Ultra Mac Studio with 512 GB of memory scored 255,009 points in the same Metal test. Based on these two results, the M5 Ultra score is about 41% higher than the M3 Ultra score.

This is a big jump on paper. Still, it comes from just one M5 Ultra benchmark result. Performance can change with temperature, software and other conditions during a test. So more results will be needed before the exact GPU improvement can be judged with more confidence.

Metal Score Can’t Tell the Whole Story
Geekbench’s Metal test is made for Apple’s graphics technology. Because of this, the M5 Ultra score shouldn’t be directly used to compare it with Nvidia or AMD graphics cards.
Tests using OpenCL or Vulkan can give a more useful cross-platform comparison. More such results will be needed to know where the M5 Ultra really stands against high-end PC GPUs.
Apple says the M5 Ultra is its most powerful Apple silicon chip yet. The new Mac Studio can have up to 36 CPU cores, 80 GPU cores and 512 GB of unified memory. Apple also claims up to 1.8x faster graphics than the M3 Ultra and up to 4.3x higher peak AI compute performance.

More Tests Will Give a Clearer Picture
The new GPU result adds to an earlier Geekbench CPU appearance for the M5 Ultra. Together, the results point to strong gains for Apple’s new flagship chip, but independent testing is still important.
The new Mac Studio with M5 Ultra is scheduled to start reaching customers on September 22, 2026. Apple lists the M5 Ultra Mac Studio starting at INR 629,900 in India.
