Vande Bharat Sleeper Train: Varanasi-Delhi Service to Be Flagged Off Tomorrow

Indian Railways Introduced 106 New Trains

Despite the delays, extra services have been set up to cope. On November 5, The Indian Express reported that Indian Railways is running 106 special train services including special Vande Bharat services to Bihar to cope with the increase in passengers during Diwali and Chhath.

East Central Railway said that as of November 3, they had announced 103 special train services in their zone. This includes 5 special train services running through their zone and 51 passing their stations.

Some of the most important special services running between Bihar and Delhi are:

  • 04088/04087: New Delhi to Patna: Daily until November 30/December 1
  • 03293/03294: Patna to Anand Vihar: Daily until November 21/22.
  • 04096/04095: Anand Vihar to Patliputra: Daily until November 29/30.
  • 03257/03258: Danapur to Anand Vihar: Weekly until November 29/30.
  • 04090/04089: New Delhi to Danapur: Wed/Fri, Thurs/Sat.

This also includes special services to Chandigarh, Firozpur, Gwalior, Bhopal, Rajasthan and more.

No Pantry Cars On Some Specials

A major issue travellers are having is due to there being no pantry cars on many of the festival special services.

As some journeys are taking between five and 11 hours longer than usual, passengers are struggling to get food and drinks. There is little time at intermediate stations to buy food.

How To Check Live Rail Updates?

When travelling to Bihar, do not assume your train will be on time as it can be delayed multiple times. The easiest way to find out is:

Use the RailOne App: Look up your train via the official Indian Railways RailOne app.

  • Check the National Train Enquiry System: Visit their website here.
  • Call 139: Contact the railway via the helpline.
  • Visit their website: Visit IRCTC.

Make sure you put in the correct train number and see what time it is now expected to arrive.
