A mysterious bullet injury killed Bihar Agniveer in J&K; family shocked

An Agniveer from the Siwan district of Bihar died from bullet wounds on Tuesday under suspicious circumstances in the Akhnoor region of Jammu and Kashmir.

Identified as Pradeep Kumar Yadav, son of Shambhu Yadav, he is a resident of Don village in the Darauli police station area of Siwan district in Bihar.

Yadav was reportedly posted in the Tanda area of Akhnoor in Jammu district of Jammu and Kashmir. His colleagues found Yadav in a pool of blood on the intervening night of Dec 12 and 13 with bullet injuries to his body. Pradeep’s battalion mates arrived at the scene to find him lying on the ground with bullets in his body.

In response to his colleagues’ immediate response, Yadav was taken to a hospital for treatment, where doctors declared him dead. When the Army Head Quarters informed the family of the deceased, they were devastated. Pradeep Kumar Yadav, who was posted at the sentry post of 24 Field Regiment, was found martyred in the night after talking to them in the morning.

The elder brother of Yadav said that they spoke with Pradeep during the day on Tuesday, and that they learned of his death at night.

“The Commandant Officer called and informed that Pradeep has been martyred due to bullet injury. He was very happy when he joined. Today we all are shocked to hear the news of his death. It is a big shock for our family,” the deceased’s brother said.

In the aftermath of the death of Agniveer, villagers thronged the house of the deceased to express their grief and sympathy to the bereaved family. Pradeep had joined Agniveer around a year ago in February.

“When Pradeep returned home after joining for the first time, the villagers beat drums and garlanded him. Despite giving him a grand welcome, the incident has shocked his family,” said a relative. The Army has started an investigation into the soldier’s mysterious death.
