Not only are technology companies trying to make users aware of the Covid-19 pandemic by launching new applications, but the government has also spare no effort. The Indian government recently launched the Aarogya Setu app, which uses your smartphone ’s location and Bluetooth features to tell you if you are in a high-risk area or even anyone nearby is affected.

It is there on the Apple App Store and Google Play store, so both iOS and Android users can download and start using it.

Steps how to download the app:

Step 1: Android and iOS users can download the app by visiting the Play Store and App Store

Step 2: Once you install, open the app and chose the language

Step 3: Read the information screen and accept the app permissions

Step 4: Ensure that you keep the location to ‘Always’ and switch on the Bluetooth

Step 5: Enter the phone number in the field and enter the OTP to confirm the number

Step 6: Enter the personal details like your gender, full name, age, profession and if you have travelled outside India in the last 30 days. Some other questions about health are also asked including a 20 second Self-Assessment Test. You can fill it later as well.

Step 7: The app shows all the security measures you can take and the PM CARES account that those who are interested can donate.

If you are in a “high-risk” or “high-risk” area, the app will ask you to test and call toll free 1075 to arrange an appointment at the nearest test center.

The application aims to enhance the initiatives of the Indian government, especially the Ministry of Health, to proactively contact users of the application and inform them about the risks, best practices and related consultations to curb COVID-19.
