The demand for online Streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hotstar are increasing day-by-day as they provide viewers with their favourite movies, series and many more options. Amidst the high demand, Hotstar has decided to increase the price for the premium monthly subscription by Rs 100.

Although, the company hasn’t announced the exact reason behind the price hike, we are assuming the reason is the release of the first episode of ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 8 which is available exclusively on the platform. Previously, the monthly subscription was made available at Rs 199, which can be availed at Rs 299. The new prices are now live on the official website.

Hotstar’s monthly subscription price hike seems like the company is pushing its users to opt for the yearly subscription pack which costs Rs 999. It is important to note that Hotstar has not increased the prices for the yearly pack.

After acquiring 21st Century Fox last month, Disney is the new owner of Hotstar. According to the market report, Hotstar will be offering Disney+ content in India as a part of newly announced streaming service.

The company, on the other hand, is also offering new Hotstar VIP yearly membership. But with the VIP membership, the subscribers will not be able to watch the English web series on the platform. The VIP membership offers access to Hotstar’s Special series, regional series and live sports on the platform. Hotstar VIP yearly membership costs at a price of Rs 365.
