After expressing her resentment over reinstating of some members in the Congress party who had allegedly misbehaved with her, party’s national spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi on Friday resigned from all post associated with the party and quit Congress with a heavy heart.
After quitting, Chaturvedi sent her resignation to the party’s top brass. Writing her resignation letter to Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, Chaturvedi said that it saddens her to recall that “despite the safety, dignity, empowerment of women being promoted by the party and has been your call to action the same is not reflected in the action of some of the members of the party.”
I am absolutely overwhelmed and grateful with the love and support I have got across board from the nation in the past 3 days.
I consider myself blessed with this immense outpouring of support. Thank you to all who have been a part of this journey. pic.twitter.com/WhUYYlwHLj— Priyanka Chaturvedi (@priyankac19) April 19, 2019
She also changed her introduction in her Twitter account where she had made a clear mention earlier about the posts she held in the party. She removed ‘INC National Spokesperson’ designation from her Twitter bio. There was absolutely no mention of the Congress party in her Twitter description this morning.
In September, local Congress leaders had allegedly misbehaved with Priyanka Chaturvedi while she was attending a press conference on the Rafale deal at Mathura. The Congress had initially removed them but recently, because of the elections and the need for local support, they were reportedly taken back. One of the workers was reportedly even named as a candidate.
