The Thar will come with two engine options: a 130PS/300Nm 2.2-litre diesel engine and a 150PS/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Both engines will be offered with a choice of 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission and will be offered with a 4x4 drivetrain with a low range transfer case as standard.

Anand Mahindra is very fond of cricket and when India won the series down under in Australia earlier this year, he decided to gift Mahindra Thar to the young players of the team.  

Anand Mahindra gifted Thar to Natarajan, among other strong performers like Mohammed Siraj, Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur, Navdeep Saini, and Washington Sundar. 

The car meant for Natarajan arrived recently and he took it to Twitter to express his feelings. “Playing cricket for India is the biggest privilege of my life. My rise has been on an unusual path. Along the way, the love and affection I have received has overwhelmed me,” he wrote. “As I drive the Mahindra Thar today, I feel immense gratitude towards Anand Mahindra for recognising my journey & for his appreciation. I trust sir, that given your love for cricket, you will find this signed shirt of mine from the Gabba Test, meaningful.”

After Natrajan, Shardul Thakur also received his brand new Thar. New Mahindra Thar has arrived. Shardul wrote. “Mahindra has built an absolute beast & I’m so happy to drive this SUV. A gesture that the youth of our nation will look up to. Thank you once again Shri Anand Mahindra ji for recognising our contribution on the tour of Australia.”

Mahindra Thar: Specs and Price 

The Mahindra Thar, launched in October 2020, still has a waiting period of up to 10 months. The automatic variants carry the highest waiting period, while the hard-top and convertible petrol-manual trims get a waiting period of up to 6 months.

The Thar comes with two engine options: a 130PS/300Nm 2.2-litre diesel engine and a 150PS/320Nm 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Both engines are offered with a choice of 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission and with a 4×4 drivetrain with a low range transfer case as standard. 

The price of Mahindra Thar starts at Rs. 12.10 Lakh and goes up to Rs. 14.15 Lakh. The price of petrol variant of Thar ranges between Rs. 12.10 Lakh to Rs. 13.95 Lakh. The prices of Thar diesel variants start at Rs. 12.30 Lakh and the top-end diesel is priced at Rs. 14.15 Lakh. Mahindra Thar is available in 10 variants and 6 different colours.
