A police inspector posted in Bihar’s Banka district has been arrested after a video purportedly showing him buying liquor went viral on social media. According to reports, a video of police inspector Rampreet Paswan buying liquor started doing the rounds on social media on Monday evening. The video also shows a watchman with the cop.
Someone forwarded this video to Superintendent of Police (SP) who ordered the immediate arrest of both the persons.
According to reports, the cop – along with a watchman – was buying alcohol near Samukhiya Mod in Banka on Monday evening. Some people caught them red-handed but somehow the managed to escape. Meanwhile, a man had captured the entire incident on his phone and shared the video on social media platforms.
Superintendent of Police Arvind Kumar Gupta said that the police has arrested both persons.
SDPO Dinesh Chandra Srivastava has been appointed to investigate the matter. Gupta said that the police stern action would be taken against the offenders after the investigation.
It is worth mentioning that Bihar has been declared a dry state since April 2016. However, several such incidents have been reported where not only common but cops too were caught buying alcohol illegally.
Last year, a policeman was arrested for consuming alcohol in the Bhagalpur district of the state. A medical test confirmed the presence of alcohol in the blood of Dilip Kumar, in-charge of the Kharik police station.
Earlier, a police inspector posted in Siwan was suspended after a video of him consuming alcohol went viral on the internet.
