Ahmednagar Mayor Polls: BJP joins hand with NCP, dumps Shiv Sena

Ahmednagar: Giving a jolt to its ally Shiv Sena, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has joined hands with Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) for the Mayor post of Ahmednagar Municipal Corporation. NCP and BJP corporators have joined hands together while Shiv Sena has been dumped by the BJP.

Shiv Sena who has the maximum number of corporators boycotted the mayoral election in the last moment and BJP without wasting time decided to team up with NCP. In the municipal election of Ahmednagar, Shiv Sena got the maximum 24 seats out of total 68 seats. NCP and BJP managed to win 18 and 14 seats respectively.

BJP candidate Babasaheb Wakale won the Mayor post after getting a total of 37 votes, two more than the magic figure of 35.

All three parties had fielded their candidate and were eying for the mayor post. Despite getting the maximum number of seats Shiv Sena failed to seal the deal in favor of his candidate.
