Airtel Leads the Pack in Mobile Live Video: According to a report by Opensignal, Bharti Airtel users have the best network experience and the quickest upload speeds across all International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2023 stadiums. Ahead of the ICC World Cup, which is scheduled to begin on October 5, Opensignal evaluated the performance of Indian mobile operators by analyzing mobile network experience across all stadiums and the 40 largest cities in India by population. On the 5G network specifically, Bharti Airtel provided the greatest voice application experience.

According to the report, Airtel performed best in the majority of these 40 cities for both overall Live Video Experience and 5G Live Video Experience in terms of the fidelity of mobile live video streaming.
Mobile Experience at the 2023 ICC World Cup Stadiums
Rapidly speeds
Airtel provided overall mobile download speeds of 30,5 Mbps and 5G download speeds of 274,5 Mbps in the stadiums. Airtel’s overall and 5G transfer speeds were the fastest, with 6.6 Mbps and 26.3 Mbps, respectively. Airtel has upload speeds that are 5.2% faster than Jio and 13% faster than Vodafone Idea.
The 2100 MHz band acts as the uplink layer, which provides excellent coverage and capacity, while the 3500 MHz (C-Band) acts as the primary layer for delivering 5G downlink speeds. This was also addressed in one of our previous analyses, which are linked below.
Score for Availability and Experience
In India’s ICC Cricket 2023 World Cup stadiums, Airtel users were able to spend 98.6% of their time connected to a superior mobile network and 20.7% of their time with a 5G signal. Regarding Voice Apps Experience, Airtel scored 78.2 out of 100, while 5G Voice Apps Experience received the maximum score of 83.3.
Mobile Experience in India’s Top 40 Cities
Overall Experience with Live Video:
In the majority of these 40 cities, Airtel dominates the statistics for overall live video streaming experience. Airtel ranks first in 23 cities, outperforming its competitors in 9 cities. Comparatively, Jio is dominant in 22 cities, ranking first in nine cities, whereas Vi is dominant in 15 cities, besting every major operator in two (Lucknow and Mumbai).
Live Video Experience on 5G:
According to the report, Airtel is the leader in 5G Live Video Experience, with consumers experiencing the best live video streaming experience on 5G in 36 out of 40 cities, surpassing Jio in 11 cities. In Aurangabad, Indore, Jaipur, Nagpur, Nashik, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune, and Vasai Virar, Airtel users could enjoy the greatest overall experience and 5G mobile live video streaming.
The data samples were collected from March 1, 2023, to August 28, 2023, by OpenSignal, and this analysis includes data collected within 1000m from stadium coordinates.
