The Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala stepped in to address the media on Friday instead of Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and read out transcripts of the purported audio tapes discussing toppling of the state government.

Surjewala announced that Congress has suspended MLA Bhanwar Lal Sharma whose audio tapes were doing the rounds on social media.

The party has also suspended Vishvendra Singh.

“An FIR should be registered against Bhanwar Lal Sharma and apart from that the party has decided to suspend Bhanwar Lal Sharma and Vishvendra Singh, from their primary membership of the party,” said Surjewala.

“The purported sensational tapes that came forward have conversations of Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Bhanwar Lal Sharma and BJP leader Sanjay Jain. It is a black episode for democracy,” said Surjewala on Friday.
