It has been few months since the JD(S) and Congress formed its government in Karnataka after the Legislative Assembly election in May 2018. During the election, Bharatiya Janata Party emerged as the single largest party with 104 seats although the majority of seats and popular votes had fallen into Congress’ side. Now BJP looks striving to retain their MLAs in the party.

There have been talks about few Janata Dal (Secular) MLAs joining hands with BJP. On Friday, Public Work Minister HD Revanna ruled out all the rumours and claimed, ‘instead few BJP MLAs are planning to leave BJP to join JD(S)’. He also said that the JD(S) has asked those 20 BJP MLAs to remain in BJP and not leave the party to join the JD(S).

“Nobody from JD-S will join the BJP. I too have heard about efforts from BJP to woo MLAs of JD-S. But they will not succeed. In fact, more than 20 MLAs are in touch with us, but we have told them to remain with the BJP,” said PW minister Revanna.
