Amid controversy, Hardik Pandya, KL Rahul Koffee With Karan episode pulled down

After the controversial episode of Koffee With Karan featuring Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul went on air, there has been a huge outrage on social media over the controversial comments made by Pandya in particular.

While fans slammed BCCI for allowing the two cricketers to appear on the show, CoA chief Vinod Rai asked the Indian board to suspend the two cricketers for two matches each. Amid the ongoing furore, the controversial episode was taken down by the website.

“Apology has obviously been drafted by the agency. Doesn’t appear sincere. I am inclined to suggest a penalty but since I have not seen the clip, maybe Diana would like to suggest some penalty. There should be a penalty? What do you feel? Could be different for both players depending on what they said on the show,” Johri said in his letter.

Hours after Rai wrote a letter to the BCCI, its treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry also expressed his disappointment over the matter.

“…the comments such as the ones that have been made would definitely have painted a large, red target on the back of the players for potential recruiters for the organized syndicates who attempt to indulge in match-fixing across the globe,” Chaudhry wrote in an email after COA member Diana Edulji sought his opinion on the matter.

“The very first caution that the ICC Anti-Corruption officers give in the briefing to the players is to beware of situations of honey traps and the comments made on the show make it seem that the players may just be ripe for the plucking,” he added.
