Aligarh: Salman Imtiaz elected as the new President of Aligarh Muslim University Students’ Union (AMUSU), Salman hails from Aligarh and is a student of Ph.D. Social Work. It is after 44 years that someone from Aligarh has been elected as president.

Hamza Sufyan was elected for the post of vice president, whereas, Huzaifa Aamir grabbed Secretary post. Hamza is a student of Social Science department. Huzaifa is pursuing MA in Language and Media Management

Huzaifa Aamir is the son of Maulana Aamir Rashadi Madni, president of Rashtriya Ulama Council.

Aligarh Muslim University Students Union (AMUSU) Poll organised in the University campus on Saturday under high security. Voting for all the 14 departments was concluded by 5 pm in the evening.

Over 18,886 students are expected to vote in the Aligarh Muslim University Students Union Elections, where around 3,014 are women voters.

The Aligarh Muslim University Students Union Election is held for the positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Court Member and Cabinet Member.

Last year Maskoor Ahmad Usmani from Bihar was elected as president of AMUSU, whereas, Sajjad Rathar from Srinagar was elected as Vice President, and Mohammad Fahad is holding the responsibility of secretary elected in 2017.

AMU offers more than 300 courses in the traditional and modern branches of education. In some courses, seats are reserved for students from SAARC and Commonwealth Countries. It ranks 8th among the top 20 research universities in India.
