In a bizarre incident reported from Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur, a wedding was called off by the groom over caste issues. Reportedly, the wedding was canceled at the last minute by the groom’s family after they alleged that the bride couldn’t produce documents to ascertain her caste.
Following this, the bride’s family member lodged a complaint against the groom and his family at Krosuru police station for canceling the marriage without any valid reason.
As per a media report, the groom allegedly called off the marriage after he found out that the bride’s caste name was missing on her Aadhaar card.
After the priest asked the bride and the groom to submit their Aadhaar cards for entry of their names in the temple register, it was revealed that in the biometric details of the bride, Sarada her father’s name was mentioned as Pidugu Anjaneyulu without the surname Reddy.
As per the reports, a man named Munnangi Venkat Reddy a farmer was to marry Sarada at a Shiva temple in the village. When the temple authorities asked for the Aadhaar card to issue the marriage certificate, the groom and the family found that Sarada’s father name different on Aadhaar and other certificates.
After the truth was revealed there was a heated argument which ended in the groom’s family walking out of the marriage in the middle of the ritual. The bride and her family approached the police after facing embarrassment.
It was the bride and the groom’s second marriage as they both are divorcees. The groom’s family said that they are cheated by the bride’s family and they have accused them of hiding their caste status.
