Andhra Pradesh IT Minister Nara Lokesh has made a strategic move to strengthen the state’s technological landscape by inviting Capgemini to set up an IT development centre and a Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Visakhapatnam, with a vision to generate approximately 20,000 jobs.

During his meeting with Capgemini’s chief executive, Aiman Ezzat, in the port city, Lokesh laid out a comprehensive plan for potential investments and expansion opportunities.

The minister urged Capgemini to play an active role in the IT sector by launching service centres for cloud services and Business Process Management (BPM) verticals. Furthermore, he encouraged collaboration with local universities to develop emerging technology labs focused on areas like Artificial Intelligence and digital development.

Capgemini, which employs hundreds of thousands globally, expressed interest in exploring these proposals. Visakhapatnam is quickly becoming a key IT and data hub, supported by upcoming projects like the Google data centre and enhanced connectivity via the soon-to-be-inaugurated Bhogapuram International Airport.
