Andhra Pradesh school officials arrested as 6-year-old dies after falling into sambhar vessel

A case under IPC section 304 has been registered against the school management.

Andhra Pradesh: 6-year-old falls in hot sambhar vessel; dies

A day after in a case of negligence, where a six-year-old boy died after falling into a vessel of hot sambar, the police and district education officials cracked down on the school where the incident took place.

The police have now arrested Vijayakumar Reddy and Naga Malleshwar Reddy, who were the Managing Director and Correspondent of in Panyam (Kurnool) Vijayanikethan English Medium High School, where the boy was studying.

A case under IPC section 304 has been registered against the school management. 

According to the reports, the boy was shifted to a local hospital initially, and later to the Kurnool General Hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.

The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon when the hostel students were standing in the queue for their lunch in the usual routine. As it is normal for children to jostle for space in the queue line, Purushottam Reddy was pushed from behind and he fell into a big vessel, which contained piping hot Sambar.

Purushotham’s parents Shyamsunder Reddy, Kalpana and relatives along with student organisations, staged a protest at the school demanding justice. Shyamsunder alleged that negligence and lack of monitoring by the management has resulted in the death of his son.

Panyam police are investigating the case and are ascertaining as to what caused the accident.
