Anticipating the Launch of EVs in 2024

Anticipating the launch of EVs in 2024: In 2023, a lot of exciting new electric bikes and scooters came out in India, making it an interesting year for the two-wheeler business there. Both domestic and foreign companies made big moves into the business, which made it more dynamic. Let’s look ahead to 2024 and see what it holds:

Anticipating the launch of EVs in 2024:

Honda Activa Electric:

Honda is about to join the fast growing market for electric scooters. With the Activa, the company already has a huge lead in the gasoline-powered scooter market. It would be best for the company to do this with an electric bike based on the Activa basis. This could be called the Honda Activa Electric. We think it will come out in early 2024. Learn more about Honda’s plans for electric vehicles (EVs) here.

The TVS iQube ST:

The TVS iQube ST was first shown at the 2023 Auto Expo. It has a bigger battery, a longer range of 145 km, and a few other features as well. The launch of the electric scooter was supposed to happen much earlier, but it has been pushed back by some time. We think the iQube ST will come out in 2024, though. TVS has stopped taking reservations right now, and the price hasn’t been announced yet. However, it’s thought that it might cost around Rs 1.75 lakh (ex-showroom, without FAME II).

Suzuki Burgman Electric:

At the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, the Burgman Electric was shown off. The electric scooter was built on the Burgman Street 125. It was also seen being tested in India in 2021, and it’s supposed to come out in 2024. It will be Suzuki’s first electric scooter in the country, and it will go up against the Ola S1 Pro and the TVS iQube S. The price might be between 1.2 lakh and 1.5 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

Hero MotoCorp’s electric business, Vida, plans to update the Vida V1 Pro in 2024. It will get new guidance based on Google Maps, just like the Ather 450X, and a bigger battery pack that will give it a longer range than the current 110 km.

The new version might cost about Rs 15,000 more than the current Vida V1 Pro, which costs Rs 1,25,900 (ex-showroom Bengaluru,FAME 2 rebate) today.

Ather 450 Apex:

The Ather 450 Apex is the company’s most powerful electric scooter. It has clear body panels, a unique paint job, Ather’s fastest Warp+ mode ever, and a top speed of 100kmph. At Rs 2,500, you can already make a reservation, and the first orders will happen in March 2024.

Ather Family/Commuter Scooter:

Even the CEO of Ather Energy revealed on Twitter that the company’s family-friendly scooter is coming out. It has been seen lately that the Ather family bike has a boxy shape and a unique camo wrap. The e-scooter will go up against the TVS iQube and the Bajaj Chetak when it comes out in 2024.

Updated Bajaj Chetak:

In 2024, Bajaj will likely update the Chetak electric scooter with new features and a bigger battery pack that will give it a longer range than the current 113 km. A cheap version with a motor placed on the hub might also be on the way.

Gogoro Electric Scooter Range:

Gogoro showed off its “CrossOver e-scooter range” for business-to-business sales and launched its battery-swapping network at the same time. Taipei-based company hopes to sell its scooters to regular people (B2C) by the second quarter of 2024. Find out more about it here.

Raptee Electric Bike:

Raptee Motors, based in Chennai, is making an electric streetfighter motorbike that will likely be shown off in early 2024. The Raptee Electric bike could cost around Rs 2.9 lakh (ex-showroom), which is about the same as the Orxa Mantis.

Besides these, we can also expect changes or new color options for models already on the market from Ola Electric, Ultraviolette, Tork Motors, Revolt Motors, and other companies.
