April Social Security Check: Depending on your birthday and when you started receiving Social Security benefits, your April check could arrive in your bank account this week if you haven’t received it yet (here’s why it could be late). How long will it take for my Social Security check to arrive in April?
Here is when you should receive your Social Security or SSI check in April.
- People who have received Social Security since before May 1997 will receive payments on April 3.
- Social Security payments for people whose birthdays fall between April 1 and April 10.
- On April 17th, Social Security payments are made to people with birthdays between April 11th and April 20th.
- People with birthdays between the 21st and 31st of any given month will receive Social Security payments on April 24.

What determines my Social Security payment date?
Social Security pays on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays of each month, depending on your birthday.
- You will receive your payment on the second Wednesday of the month if your birthday falls between the first and 10th of the month.
- If your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of the month, your payment will be sent on the third Wednesday.
- You will receive your payment on the fourth Wednesday of the month if your birthday falls between the 21st and 31st of the month.

If my check doesn’t arrive on time, what should I do?
Wait three additional mailing days before contacting the Social Security Administration if your check doesn’t arrive by the above date.

Are there going to be extra Social Security payments?
There will be two SSI payments in May 2024. Normally, the June 2024 payment would be sent on June 1, but since June 1 is a weekend, it will be sent on May 31.
SSI recipients will receive two payments in May 2024 and none in June 2024. This pattern will also occur in August and November 2024.
