Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu along with six other lawmakers was temporarily suspended from Peoples’ Party on Thursday for allegedly involving in anti-party activities.

Reportedly, Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister M Chowna Mein and 5 other MLAs were suspended from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect. The five other MLAs include Zingnu Namchom (Namsai), Passang Dorjee Sona (Mechuka), Chow Tewa Mein (Chowkham), Jambey Tashi (Lumla) and Kamlung Mossang (Miao).

Owing to the latest development, Khandu no more will be the leader of the PPA Legislature Party.

According to PPA President Kahfa Bengia, the MLAs were being placed under provisional suspension with instant effect. The president also added that he was satisfied with the evidences of their indulgence in gross “anti-party” activities.

Bengia warned all party MLAs and PPA officials not to appear in any meeting called by Khandu. He also said that any members, if fails to comply with the order, would have to face punitive action of the party.

The PPA is an associate of the North East Democratic Alliance – a political alliance formed by the Bharatiya Janata Party and other regional parties. Khandu had taken place of Nabam Tuki as the Congress CM, after a dissenting campaign in July.
