Asian Games 2023 Cricket Teams: Cricket will return to the impending Asian Games for the first time since 2014 in Incheon, South Korea, eight years ago. Here is the complete roster of teams competing in the event at the 2023 Asian Games.
Fourteen men’s teams and eight women’s teams will compete for the coveted gold medal in their respective divisions.
The men’s tournament is scheduled to be played in a T20 format from September 27 to October 8, while the women’s tournament will be played in the same format from September 19 to September 25. The Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket Field is the venue for every game.
Based on their ICC T20I Rankings as of 1 June 2023, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh have already advanced to the quarterfinals.
Afghanistan, a Full Member of the ICC, will only compete in the men’s event. A victory against Mongolia will secure their position in the top eight.
After its debut in the 2010 edition in Guangzhou, China, both men’s and women’s cricket were contested at the 2014 continental event in Incheon, South Korea. The previous iteration of the Asian Games, held in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2018, did not include cricket.
Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka won the three women’s medals at Incheon, whereas Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh won the three men’s medals.
