Wednesday, May 27, is the big Bakrid holiday for most states. On this day, banks will be closed in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Ladakh, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal and the Mahe region of Puducherry. A few states will observe Bakrid on Thursday, May 28 instead. Those include Bihar, Goa, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. May 30 and May 31: One Open and One Shut
Saturday, May 30 is the fifth Saturday of the month. Banks will stay open on that day. RBI rules make only the second and fourth Saturdays official bank holidays, while the fifth Saturday is treated like a normal working day. Then on Sunday, May 31, banks across the country will be closed as part of the weekly holiday.
What still works during the Break?
Even when branches are shut, banking does not stop. UPI, NEFT, RTGS and IMPS continue to work.
