A day-long dharna is organised at all PTI centers from 10 am to 6 pm. Retrenchment of 297 staff members of the Press Trust of India has sparked a protest against the PTI management. PTI Employees Federation and other journalists unions have extended their support.
It is a do or die situation for the employees. They have no choice but to launch indefinite protests against the management for Its illegal decision, says Balram Dahiya, General Secretary of Federation of PTI Employees Unions.
The Federation demanded that this “illegal retrenchment be withdrawn with immediate effect”.
The Delhi Union of Journalists (DUJ) also raised objections against the arbitrary retrenchment of 297 permanent employees by the management of PTI.
On Saturday, PTI sacked 297 employees across the country triggering a controversy. The retrenchment order, dated 29 September, is signed by M. R. Mishra, the Chief Administrative Officer of the agency.
