Rajauli Assembly Election 2025: Full Candidate List, Poll Date, Past Results and Winning Margins

Barauli Assembly Constituency 2025: Barauli is an assembly constituency in Gopalganj district of Bihar. The seat covers Barauli town and surrounding gram-panchayats and blocks (including Manjha block and a set of panchayats listed in the Delimitation Order), and it falls under the Gopalganj (Lok Sabha) parliamentary constituency (SC). The constituency is largely rural with farm-based livelihoods, seasonal migration to other states for work, and a mixed social fabric (Maithili/Bhojpuri/Hindi speakers).

Geography, Voters and Local Issues

As of the most recent official descriptions the constituency had roughly 2.39 lakh electors (about 1.26 lakh male and 1.13 lakh female electors) and is organized as per the 2008 delimitation.

Local issues that dominate voter conversations here are: agriculture and irrigation (rabi/kharif cropping cycles and access to local markets), rural roads and connectivity, employment/migration of youth, basic public services (health centres, schools, electricity) and law-and-order/administration at the block level.

Communal and caste calculations also shape political strategy parties and candidates typically target combinations of caste blocks and local influential families. (Local news and prior election reporting show these recurring themes across the Gopalganj/Barauli area.)

Barauli Assembly Constituency 2025: Recent Political History

Barauli has swung between the BJP and RJD over the last decade. The seat has seen close contests and occasional large swings: RJD’s Md. Nematullah won in 2015 by a small margin, while BJP’s Ram Pravesh (Rampravesh) Rai reclaimed the constituency in 2020.

Historically the constituency has also elected Congress and independent candidates in earlier decades, reflecting shifting local alliances rather than a permanently one-party hold. The pattern in the 2010s and 2020s highlights a competitive two/three-party dynamic at the local level.

Election Numbers (2010–2020)

Between 2010 and 2020 Barauli showed both tight contests and decisive wins. In 2010 Rampravesh Rai (BJP) won with roughly 45,234 votes (a comfortable margin over the RJD candidate). In 2015 the contest tightened and Md. Nematullah (RJD) beat Rampravesh Rai by only about 504 votes, a razor-thin margin that underlined local volatility.

In 2020 Rampravesh Rai (BJP) regained the seat with 81,956 votes (≈46.5%) defeating Reyazul Haque (RJD) who got about 67,801 votes; the 2020 margin was roughly 14,155 votes. Turnout in these elections has hovered in the high-50s percentage range (turnout ~58–59% in 2015 and 2020). These numbers show a constituency where small swings and candidate reputation matter a lot.

What to Watch During the 2025 Contest?

1. Candidate line-ups and alliances at the local level whether BJP, RJD, JD(U) (and smaller allies) keep the same seat-sharing math or reshuffle, because local alliances often decide who gets the upper hand in close seats.

2. Impact of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) / voter-list changes in 2025 the revision process has been politically charged in Bihar; any changes to rolls or disenfranchisement claims will matter locally.

3. Youth and migration / jobs: Which party offers credible short-term employment or migration-support measures will affect swing voters and families with migrant members.

4. Caste and community arithmetic: Barauli’s outcomes have historically been influenced by the way parties stitch together caste and minority vote blocks watch how each side balances caste appeals with development messaging.

5. Ground organisation and booth-level mobilisation: Turnout strategies, booth committees, and local leaders (panchayat/ward level) will decide whether the contest stays close or tilts decisively.
