BCCI announces Team India Annual Contracts for 2023-24; Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer Excluded

Earlier this week, the BCCI announced the annual player contracts for Team India (Senior Men) for the 2023-24 season (October 1st, 2023 - September 30th, 2022).

Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer’s central contracts have been terminated by the BCCI in a major development.

Earlier this week, the BCCI announced the annual player contracts for Team India (Senior Men) for the 2023-24 season (October 1st, 2023 – September 30th, 2022).

“Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were not considered for the annual contracts in this round of recommendations,” BCCI said.

Grade A+ (4 Athletes)

Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja.

Grade A (6 Athletes)

R Ashwin, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill and Hardik Pandya.

Grade B (5 Athletes)

Surya Kumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Grade C (15 Athletes)

Rinku Singh, Tilak Verma, Ruturaj Gaekwad, Shardul Thakur, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Jitesh Sharma, Washington Sundar, Mukesh Kumar, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, KS Bharat, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan and Rajat Patidar.

Further, athletes who are eligible to participate in Grade C will automatically be considered on a pro-rata basis if they have played a minimum of three Tests, eight One-Day Internationals, or ten Twenty-One-Day Internationals within the specified period. The Dharamsala Test Match, which is the 5th Test in the ongoing series against England, will induct Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan, who have played two Test matches so far, into Grade C.

Furthermore, the Selection Committee has recommended Fast Bowling contracts for Akash Deep, Vijaykumar Vyshak, Umran Malik, Yash Dayal and Vidwath Kaverappa.

During periods in which athletes are not representing the national team, the BCCI has recommended that they give priority to participating in domestic cricket.
