A new footage surfaced showing a woman being sexually assaulted by two men in a residential area in Bengaluru on New Year’s Eve. This is the second such incident that comes into the light at a time when the state government and its police are already facing enormous criticism for their failure to ensure safety and security of women during New Year celebrations.

The CCTV footage shows two men groping and assaulting a woman on January 1. It was released to the media by a Bengaluru resident. As per a report in NDTV, the video footage was recorded on a camera installed at a house in east Bengaluru around 2.30 am on Sunday.

In the video, a woman can be seen getting out of an auto-rickshaw and walking on an empty dark street when two men on a scooter come to her and start groping her. They also tried to kidnap her but failed. However, the woman suffers injuries at the hands of these men before they finally leave her and flee away.

Reportedly, the inhabitants of the house brought the video to the notice of a few media houses initially following which the police were informed about the same.

Bengaluru has been facing huge backlash lately for the recent mass molestation that occurred on the December 31. Even though 1,500 police personnel were deployed to ensure peaceful New Year celebration, thousands of men harassed several women on MG Road and Brigade lane in the heart of the city.
