Nearly five women raped every day in Gujarat: Govt

In an appalling incident, a 15-year-old class 10 student was kidnapped and gang-raped by an auto driver and two of his accomplices in Muzaffarpur on Monday evening.

“The miscreants allegedly left the survivor near Bairai bus stand after taking turns to rape her on Monday night. She, somehow, managed to reach her residence and inform her parents. She was immediately admitted to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) for treatment after finding her condition serious,” SSP Jayant Kant said.

The incident took place after the victim was going home after school on Monday evening. She is a resident of a village under Minapur block of the district, who along with her parents stay at a rented accommodation in Muzaffarpur town to pursue her education.

“An FIR has been lodged with the Mahila Thana on Wednesday morning after taking the survivor’s statement,” the SSP said. Meanwhile, parents of the girl have alleged negligence on part of the police. “Cops at Ahiapur police station virtually threw us out of the police station after abusing us when we reached there to lodge a complaint,” said kin of the victim.

However, Ahiapur police station SHO Vikas Kumar Rai has pretended ignorance about any such incident till 11 pm on Tuesday.

Incidentally, the Muzaffarpur SSP said that neither the girl’s parents nor the SKMCH administration had informed the police. “We got to know about the incident from our own sources,” he said.
