Deepak Thakur, Bigg Boss 12 fame, and Bollywood singer has been roped in as the Bihar Election Commission’s brand ambassador for the Gaya district.

Sharing the information on Facebook, Thakur wrote, “Congratulations to #deepakthakur for becoming the Brand Ambassador of Election Commission of Bihar for Gaya district.”

Deepak Thakur, who hails from Muzaffarpur district, rose to fame when he made it to the finals of the most controversial reality show Bigg Boss 12, hosted by actor Salman Khan. Recently, the singer also announced the release of his new music video titled “Robinhood Bihar Ke” featuring Pandey, the police chief of the state. The song has been composed and sung by Thakur. The song’s teaser on YouTube features IPS Gupteshwar Pandey along with Thakur.

DGP Gupteshwar Pandey hails from the Buxar district of Bihar and had once tried his luck in politics as well. It is said that in 2009, he wanted to contest for Lok Sabha on a BJP ticket from Buxar for which he had resigned from the post of IPS officer. However, BJP decided to field its veteran leader Lamuni Choubey instead. His term as DGP is going to end in February 2021.

Earlier, in the 2015 Bihar Assembly elections, Sushil Kumar, winner of the fifth edition of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), and Kajal Kumari, champion of the fifth Carrom World Cup in South Korea, were selected as the State Election Commission’s brand ambassadors for East Champaran and West Champaran districts, respectively.

The Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 is scheduled for October-November. Meanwhile, JD(U) is looking to contest 115 seats, according to a report in The Indian Express.  The remaining 128 will go to the BJP which will accommodate the Lok Janshakti Party. The JD(U) will accommodate Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) from its quota. The Bihar Legislative Assembly has 243 seats.

Ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 18, will inaugurate the historic Kosi Rail Mahasetu and 12 other rail projects in the eastern state.
