Power Transmission Project
BGCL started in January 2013. It was set up to build, run, and manage intra-state power transmission projects in Bihar. This role supports the flow of electricity across the state network. It also adds strength to the infrastructure needed as power demand rises.
The company operates 11 grid substations across Bihar, according to its official website. Its transmission infrastructure is an important part of the state’s wider electricity system.

What Did Officials Say About the Dividend?
In the Oct 8 update, Bihar Energy Minister Shailesh Kumar, who is also called Bulo Mandal, said he was pleased with the dividend news. He connected the announcement to the firm’s growth and overall financial standing.
Energy Secretary Ajay Yadav added that results on the ground matter, along with careful financial control. BGCL’s managing director, Dr Nawal Kishore Choudhary, pointed to the team’s work as the main reason for the outcome.
BGCL Dividend Record
BGCL had already paid interim dividends in FY 2025 to 26. The first figure was shared in December 2025. The most recent payout of Rs 33.74 crore came after those earlier payments. It also shows the company keeps sharing earnings with shareholders.
This matters for Bihar’s power sector. When transmission utilities stay financially strong, they can plan bigger infrastructure work over time. They can also meet day to day operating needs.
Still, this dividend news should not be taken alone as a sign of future profit. BGCL’s earnings, planned capital spending, upkeep costs, and new transmission work ahead will be key signs to watch.
