Mumbai Local Train Block: Western Railway has announced a four hour jumbo block on the suburban railway network in Mumbai for track and equipment maintenance. The block will take place during the night of October 10 and 11, 2026, and is expected to affect local train services on some routes.

At the same time, several long-distance trains between Mumbai and New Delhi have been cancelled or rescheduled due to expected traffic congestion around major railway stations in the national capital. The changes come ahead of a planned protest by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

According to Western Railway, the jumbo block will be carried out between Mahim and Mumbai Central stations. The maintenance work will cover railway tracks, signalling systems and overhead equipment.

The block will remain in force from 12:25 am to 4:25 am during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. Western Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Vineet Abhishek shared the information in an official statement on Friday.

Fast Trains to Run on Slow Lines

During the maintenance period, all fast-line trains will be diverted to the slow lines between Andheri or Santacruz and Churchgate. This change may affect normal suburban train operations during the four-hour block.

Western Railway has asked passengers to keep the changes in mind and plan their journeys accordingly. The maintenance work is being carried out to keep the tracks, signals and overhead equipment in proper working condition.

Mumbai-Delhi Trains Cancelled and Rescheduled

Apart from the local train block, several long-distance services connecting Mumbai and Gujarat with New Delhi have also been cancelled or rescheduled. The changes were announced by Central Railway and Western Railway on Friday.

Railway authorities said the decision was taken after the Railway Board shared concerns about heavy road traffic around New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations on October 10. The expected congestion is linked to the planned CJP protest in the national capital.
