Medicine trader shot dead in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur

A medicine trader Baiju Prasad Gupta (50) who was also a BJP functionary was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Khemkaran Pakdi village which falls under jurisdiction of Siwaipatti police station. It is learnt that an individual came to Baiju’s shop and asked him about some medicine before opening fire at him.

Baiju owned a medicine shop at Khemkaran Pakdi Chowk. This incident took place in evening at 6.15 PM. Bullets were fired on him which injured his neck, chest and hands. From there he was rushed to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) where he was declared dead. Police arrived at the scene of incident and found some empty shell of bullets.

Since three days he frequently visited court and was in constant touch his lawyer. His lawyer told Pramod Kumar Yadav, SHO Siwaipatti police station that Gupta had some dispute over a plot of land with some of his relatives.

Baiju survived by his wife Pramila Devi and two sons- Ajit and Sujit. Elder son Ajit has revealed that his parents used live in village. His mother is a ward member. Since few days, there was property dispute in which relatives of Baiju without informing sold a part of his paternal property. On this particular revelation, police is investigating the issue.

Sharing details of the incident, DSP, East Muzaffarpur, Gaurav Pandey said, “We have received the information that some criminal has shot one person. We are trying to ascertain the reason behind the incident based on which we can have some identification of the culprit. We are also planning to conduct raids for the arrest of the accused.”

MLA from Meenapur, Munna Yadav reached SKMCH and met family members of the deceased and demanded immediate arrest of culprits from DSP Gaurav Pandey. BJP leader Ajay Kushwaha was also among the visitors. The village is in deep shock after the incident.
