Murder of Teen age girl in Gaya turns out to be ‘Honour Killing’

Gaya: Murder of Anjana Kumari, Gaya based girl is no more a mystery as it is an established fact that its a case of honour killing. According to police, her father along with his family friends conspired to kill her. Her body was mutilated and face burnt with acid was recovered on 6th January just a few meters away from her house in Patwa Toli.

The police have arrested her parents and a relative for murder.

On Thursday Gaya SSP, Rajiv Mishra indicated it to be a family conspiracy and had said- “Fresh inputs of the investigation indicate the involvement of someone whom she already knew. All aspects of the case are under investigation. We shall reveal the truth at the earliest with action against the culprit.”

There was hesitation from family to register the FIR at first but on 4th January, girl’s father had filed a missing complaint. When the body was recovered by cops on January 6, the family refused identification and resisted their daughters from giving any statement. The girl returned to the house on December 31, 3 days after she left, was revealed by the girl’s mother and sister. This raised suspicion on motives of the family and based on circumstantial evidence, the family members got detained.

On 6th January Anjana Kumari, the 16-year-old daughter of Turaj Prasad was found dead with her head and body lying apart. She used to work in a factory in Sitadahu and was last seen near Pehani Park on the same day of missing. She went missing on 28th December.

This heinous crime led to massive protest and online outrage where people continuously protested against the police for the delay in their actions and demanded the arrest of those involved in the crime. Slogans of ‘Justice for Anjana’ resonated in town.
