Bihar: Woman accused of witchcraft forced to make dead child alive; beaten to death when failed

An FIR has been lodged against 12 villagers. Four persons, named in the complaint, have been arrested while search is underway for remaining accused.

Reports of mob violence in the state of Bihar are on rise. Another shocking incident has come to light where a 50-year-old woman accused of witchcraft was beaten to death by the mob. The incident took place at Koyaligarh village under the Govindpur police station area in Bihar’s Nawada on Tuesday.

Going by the reports, husband of the deceased woman filed a complaint against 12 villager of thrashing the woman bamboo and wooden sticks at around 8 am when the victim had gone to fetch water in the morning.

The man claimed that his wife was found lying on the ground in a pool of blood, and villagers were standing nearby and accusing her of practicing witchcraft.

An FIR has been lodged against 12 residents of the village. As per the reports, four persons, named in the complaint, have been arrested and search is underway for the remaining accused. Meanwhile, the body has been sent for post-mortem.

The incident has been reported days after three persons were beaten to death in Saran district on suspicion of stealing a buffalo.
