Bisfi Assembly Constituency 2025: Full Candidate List, Poll Date, Past Results and Winning Margins

Bisfi Assembly Constituency 2025: Bisfi is one of the 243 assembly constituencies in Bihar, located in Madhubani district. It is a general category (i.e. non-reserved) seat. Under the delimitation order of 2008, the constituency is composed of the Bisfi community development block, plus 12 gram panchayats of the Rahika block (Satlakha, Rahika, Saurath, Najirpur, Jagatpur, Kakraul North & South, Malangia, Basauli, Sapta, Ijra, Hasanpur). It is part of the Madhubani Lok Sabha constituency.

Voters and Local Issues

In terms of voters and demographics:

  • In 2020, registered electors in Bisfi were ~ 328,098.
  • Key social groups: About 31% of voters are Muslim (approx. 101,710), and around 11% are Scheduled Caste (~ 36,156) in 2020.
  • The constituency is entirely rural no urban municipal wards.

Local issues tend to revolve around agricultural dependence, irrigation, infrastructure (roads, schools, healthcare), seasonal migration for employment, and flood challenges. The region lies in the Mithila area which is prone to flooding during monsoon, and many villages are remote or poorly connected. Voter turnout has been modest, affected by these access-and-infrastructure issues.

Bisfi Assembly Constituency 2025: Recent Political History

Bisfi has seen swings among several parties over past decades: Congress, Communist Party of India (CPI), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Independent candidates.

Until 2000-2005, CPI and Congress were strong. CPI, for example, won in 1977, 1980, 1995. Congress had wins (e.g. in 2000).

In the mid-2000s, the rise of RJD and independent candidates shifted the dynamics.

Most recently, in 2020, BJP’s Haribhushan Thakur won the seat, defeating RJD’s Faiyaz Ahmad. This was BJP’s first victory here.

Bisfi Assembly Constituency 2025: Poll Date

The Bihar Legislative Assembly election is scheduled in the Oct–Nov 2025 window under the Election Commission of India’s timetable for the full state poll. The commission releases precise constituency-wise polling dates and phase details closer to voting, and the official schedule and the CEO Bihar portal should be checked for the exact polling day once announced. Expect date to be part of a phased October/November polling schedule.

What to Watch During the 2025 Contest?

1. Voter turnout / Special Intensive Revision (SIR) impact: The Election Commission’s roll-revision exercise and attempts to update or clean up voter lists (including inclusion/exclusion) may affect which voters can vote. Given migration, document issues, and rural access, SIR effects (or perceptions of disenfranchisement) could change the electorate or cause discontent.

2. Caste & religious identity factors: Bisfi is a Muslim minority with a substantial percentage of around 31%, Scheduled Castes, and so on. The way these parties deal with identity politics (relations, choosing candidates, the nature of the message) will play a crucial role. In 2020, against all odds, BJP was able to achieve the winning feat.

3. Incumbent performance on local infrastructure: Since the constituency is rural, issues like roads, irrigation, health centers, schools, drainage/flood control, and employment are at the forefront. The situation will greatly affect the swing voters if the incumbent (BJP) has or has not been seen to have delivered.

4. Alliance effects / party switching: Coalitions at the state level (e.g., which of the BJP, JD(U), RJD, Congress, independents, smaller parties are aligned) and any local differences (for instance, if RLSP or others joining or leaving the alliances) could have a sway on the vote shares.

5. Margin of victory patterns: Margins in 2010 and 2020 were relatively close; 2015 had a larger margin. That suggests there is a swingable base. Even small shifts in vote share (for example due to local issues or dissatisfactions) can flip the seat.
