Delhi’s toxic air is once again in the news and today’s incident has further hampered Delhi’s image. The site of high pollution levels has been noted in two of the most prestigious Indian tournaments, Ranji Trophy and the Indian Super League.

On the inaugural day of this session of Ranji Trophy, Mumbai batsman Siddhesh Lad resorted to wearing a mask.

Delhi’s Air Quality Index has been swinging back and forth between the levels of poor and very poor for the last one month now. In the past too there have been instances where players had to resort to such security measures.

In December 2017, the Sri Lankan cricket wore masks at various intervals in their Test match against India. Several conversations took place between the then captain of Sri Lanka, Dinesh Chandimal, and the umpires.

Mumbai coach, Mr Vinayak Samant, said that their pacer Tushar Deshpande is unwell since he has reached Delhi.

At Stumps, Mumbai is 278/5, the player in the mask, Siddhesh Lad is batting on 80.
