Ravindra Bawanthade, a local BJP leader from Armori Taluka of Gadchiroli district arrested for allegedly raping 19-year-old student in a bus on June 27. The arrest happened after a clip of Bawanthade engrossed in sexual act with a woman in a moving bus in Maharashtra had gone viral.
The woman had filed a rape case against the political leader who was on run after the incident.
The incident happened in a moving bus in Chandrapur area of Gadchiroli district. The case was registered after a video showing Bawanthade and a woman in a compromising position went viral.
The CCTV footage shows BJP leader kissing the woman and forcing himself upon her while other passengers are sitting in the bus. After the video went viral, the woman went to the police and filed a rape case against Bawanthade.
The woman told the police that the leader promised to marry her and help her get a job. However, the police are tight lipped on the case.
