BJP parliamentarian Nishikant Dubey has demanded a CBI probe against former Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. In a letter written to PM, the BJP leader has alleged that in May 2014, barely days before Congress relinquished office, Shinde tried to influence the the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, G Rohini. “Shinde had asked Justice Rohini to appoint a commission of inquiry to investigate incidents of physical and electronic surveillance, allegedly without approval, in the states of Gujarat, HP and Delhi.

As per the BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, “this was deep-rooted conspiracy to create a destabilizing situation and seeking commission of inquiry to be set up just 13 days before the result of the general election of 2014, and that too for a decision of the cabinet taken months earlier.”

However, this desperate move by the Home Minister did not excel as the Chief Justice of Delhi HC did not consider the matter. Other officials in the system including RM Sharma, a former advisor in the law ministry also displayed an attitude of integrity and refused to be “the handmaiden to the immoral activities of the Congress.”

The source further alleged that this was the anti-democratic deeds of the former government and it attempted to subvert democracy along with creating an environment of fear and misusing the judiciary for the same.

The BJP MP Nishikant Dubey sought a CBI-led inquiry into the various aspects of this matter and the role of the Congress leadership, the government functionaries including Shinde, Sibal and other henchmen in the union cabinet, who regardless of being fully aware, tried to influence the judiciary.
