Bhubaneswar, April 2 (IANS) In view of larger public interest, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday revealed the identity of the fifth COVID-19 patient from Odisha.

It made it public the name and details of the patient urging people who have been in contact with him to remain in home quarantine forthwith.

The 5th COVID-19 patient is Pradipta Kumar Dalabehera (60), a resident of ward no 46, Surya Nagar, Bhubaneswar.

BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary said the identity of the patient has been published with an intention to safeguard the public who have come in contact with him since March 1.

Public who have come in contact with him since 1st March, 2020 shall keep themselves to home quarantine forthwith for 14 days from the date of contact and inform about such quarantine in the helpline number 104, said Chaudhary.

The fifth positive case of COVID-19 has no recent travel history neither to any other country nor any part of India.

“And whereas with prescribed procedure of contact tracing, it seems impossible to establish and identify all contacts and to check the spread of the highly contagious COVID-19 it is essential to know the possible contacts of the detected cases where there is no travel history and to find out all the people who could have been potentially infected by such positive cases,” said a BMC order.

Meanwhile, BMC has sealed the affected area and disinfected the locality as part of cluster containment strategy.
