The story of this series follows Yeon Ji-young, played by Im Yoon-ah, who works as a French cuisine chef in modern times. She suddenly slips back in time to the Joseon Dynasty, where she becomes the palace head chef.
Life is dangerous for her there, because even one mistake with food could lead to her death. King Yi Heon, played by Lee Chae-min, is known as a strict ruler with a sharp sense of taste. As Ji-young and the king face new challenges, their connection grows stronger with every episode.

The preview shows that Ji-young’s life will soon be in danger, and it is King Lee-heon who will step forward to save her.
Before that moment, the two will share a quiet night together in the royal pavilion, where feelings they can no longer hide will finally show. The king thinks about negotiating directly with the Ming convoy, but Ji-young stops him. She stands firm and tells him she will take the third challenge herself. She does not allow him to bow down to Ming.
She explains that her will to fight first came from anger anger at Ming for looking down on Joseon. But after watching her friends like Gil-geom, Master Eum-suk, and Master Maeng-su work hard, and even after seeing Ming’s chefs put their passion into the contest, her reason changed. Now she wants to win not only for pride, but because she truly believes in this battle.
She promises she will win no matter what happens her strong spirit touches Lee-heon, and for once his hard face softens into a smile. He jokes with her about the missing pressure cooker lid, and Ji-young answers, “Not yet,” while trusting that Chun-nim will bring it in time.
