BPSC TRE-4 Notification 2026 Released: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has finally released the notification for the fourth phase of the School Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-4.0) and it ends weeks of uncertainty for teacher aspirants. The recruitment drive will fill 32,388 vacant school teacher posts under the Bihar Education Department in total.
This announcement comes on August 18, 2026 on the same day that teacher recruitment aspirants in Patna started an indefinite hunger strike. They are demanding for the release of the TRE-4 advertisement and some clarity, about how the selection process will actually go.
Under Advertisement No. 14/2026, eligible Indian citizens will be able to apply online from September 1, 2026. The last date to submit the application is September 30, while the fee-payment window will close on September 29.
BPSC TRE-4 Vacancy 2026: 32,388 Posts
The recruitment covers teaching positions across different school levels. The vacancy distribution announced earlier by the Bihar government is:
- Classes 1–5: 3,847
- Classes 6–8: 8,563
- Classes 9–10: 3,877
- Classes 11–12: 16,101
- Total: 32,388
The vacancies cover primary, middle, secondary and higher-secondary teaching positions.

BPSC TRE-4 Application Date 2026
According to the recruitment notice, the BPSC TRE-4 online application process will begin on September 1, 2026.
Candidates will have until September 30 to submit their applications. However, the fee-payment deadline is one day earlier, on September 29. Aspirants should therefore avoid waiting until the final day to complete the process.

Why Were Bihar Teacher Aspirants Protesting?
The notification comes against the backdrop of growing anger among TRE-4 aspirants over the delay in releasing the recruitment advertisement.
On August 18, candidates began an indefinite hunger strike at the Gardanibagh protest site in Patna. Their immediate demand was the release of the TRE-4 advertisement. Students had also raised concerns about the proposed examination pattern, vacancies and delays in other government recruitment examinations.
Before the notification was released, student leader Dilip Kumar told reporters, “The government should release the advertisement for the BPSC TRE-4 exam within 24 hours, otherwise we can surround the residence of the Education Minister demanding his resignation.”
Hundreds of TRE-4 candidates participating in the protest at Gardanibagh also raised slogans against Education Minister Mithilesh Tiwari, calling him “incompetent.”
Dilip Kumar further said, “If our demands are not met, I will begin a fast unto death at this very spot three days from today (Tuesday).”
