On December 23, 2022, sixteen Indian Army Bravehearts were killed in a tragic road accident involving an Army Truck in Zema, North Sikkim.
The ill-fated vehicle was part of a three-vehicle convoy that had travelled from Chatten to Thangu in the morning. The vehicle skidded down a steep slope while negotiating a sharp turn en route to Zema.
A rescue mission was immediately launched, and four injured soldiers were airlifted to safety. Unfortunately, three Junior Commissioned Officers and 13 soldiers died as a result of their injuries in the accident.
In this hour of grief, the Indian Army stands firm with the bereaved families.
