5:55 PM| All nine people who were trapped in the fire at the Left Bank Power House at Srisailam in Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district were killed on Friday, said officials.

Following the incident, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao expressed his grief over the unfortunate loss of lives and spoke to the officials who are at the site and reviewed the relief measures taking place there.


5:05 PM| The Election Commission of India (ECI) has now released guidelines for voting amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. The guidelines will be applicable to all Assembly and bye elections conducted during the pandemic. The Bihar polls will be the first where these norms will be followed.


3:18 PM| As many as six people were killed after a massive fire broke out the Left Bank Power House at Srisailam in Telangana’s Nagarkurnool district on Friday morning, according to media reports.

According to officials, short circuit was the cause of the incident. 25 people were reportedly present at the spot out of ten have been rescued so far, said Chief Engineer of Telangana State Power Generation Corporation (GENCO). However, about 15 or 16 managed to come out.


2:40 PM| The Supreme Court on Friday allowed three Jain temples in Mumbai to open for the last two days of Paryushan, scheduled to be held on August 22 and August 23. However, the apex court has made it mandatory for the temple authorities to observe Centre’s SOPs on the opening of religious places and maintaining social distancing norms.
