Bihar’s ace politician and former union minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh passed away on Sunday at AIIMS Delhi. He was shifted to ICU after his health deteroriated on Wednesday. The minister resigned from RJD on Thursday and sent a resignation letter on a general handwritten sheet.

BJP leaders in Himachal Pradesh have filed a criminal complaint against Shiv Sena MP and spokesperson Sanjay Raut for allegedly using obscene and derogatory language against actor Kangana Ranaut.

Leaders of the ruling party in HP filed a complaint to the Shimla SP, seeking to register an FIR, stating that the language used by Raut against Kangana resulted in outraging her modesty on a public platform.

A 27-year-old attendant at a COVID-19 quarantine centre in Maharashtra’s Thane district has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman at the facility, police said on Sunday, ANI reported.

The incident took place in June, but came to light on Saturday when the 20-year-old woman lodged a police complaint, inspector Sampat Patil of Navghar police station said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was discharged from AIIMS nearly two weeks ago after post-COVID-19 care, was readmitted to the hospital last night after he reportedly complained of breathlessness. On August 2, Shah, 55, had said on Twitter that he had tested positive for COVID-19. He had undergone treatment at Medanta Hospital and was discharged after he tested negative for the contagious virus.

India’s coronavirus tally crossed the 47-lakh mark on Saturday with 94,372 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the last 24 hours, the government said on Sunday. The current death count due to coronavirus in the country rose to 78,586 after 1,172 deaths due to COVID-19 were reported in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra remains the state hit hardest by the pandemic, followed by Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Uttar Pradesh. India is the country with the second-highest coronavirus caseload in the world after the United States.
