Bulandshahr Violence Case: Absconding suspect Yogesh Raj in Subodh Kumar's murder arrested

In the turn of events in Bulandshahr violence case, the absconding main suspect Yogesh Raj, accused of inciting mob violence in which a police officer was left dead, has been arrested nearly a month after the incident. Raj, who was on a run since the violence broke out, was arrested by the police late last night from a college in Bulandshahr.

With Raj’s arrest, the number of those taken into custody in connection with the crime is 31 so far.

Raj, with his associates, had lodged an FIR claiming that they saw “seven people slaughtering cows” when they were roaming in the fields. The FIR was lodged against seven people, including minors, under IPC section 295 at Siyana police station following which an argument between the protesters and the police escalated and violence erupted outside a village.

A police inspector, Subodh Kumar Singh, and a civilian, Sumit Kumar, were killed in the mob violence on December 3, 2018.

Last week, the police arrested a key accused, Kalua, who allegedly attacked Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh with an axe. The police also recovered the axe allegedly used in the attack, from his possession.
