CAA Protests: Himanta Biswa Sarma ensures new law to protect land belonging to indigenous people

A new series of events seemed to have rocked the ongoing CAA Protest issue. Northeast had always been at the forefront of opposing this bill.

A new series of claims have been surfaced by BJP leader Chandramohan Patwari, he said, “A new land law will be introduced in Assam which will seek to provide protection of the land of people who are indigenous to the state.”

Himanta Biswa Sharma, Assam Finance Minister also stated the same words as mentioned by him in a Press conference held on 21st December.

CAA protests have rocked Assam in many ways. Women, men, and people of different age groups have come out demanding to scrap of the bill as they allege, this bill is a clear threat to reduce their numbers to a minority.

Prominent political parties like the AGP led student wing All Assam Student Wing led 2000 people to march to protest against the CAA on Wednesday. They said the protest was mostly staged as a satyagraha.

Prominent filmstars and many Politicians within AGP have shown disregard towards the bill. A lot of violence has also occurred amidst the conflict between both the Protesters and Police fronts. A total of five people had to die due to the clashes happening.

Several towns and cities were placed under indefinite curfew, including Guwahati, the epicenter of protests, besides Dibrugarh, Tezpur, and Dhekiajuli. Night curfew was imposed in Jorhat, Golaghat, Tinsukia and Charaideo districts.
