The Congress lost the Rajya Sabha election on Tuesday despite a clear majority in the assembly with six party MLAs cross-voting in favour of the BJP.
Vikramaditya Singh announced his decision at a press conference held following the Himachal Pradesh Rajya Sabha election result declared on Tuesday.
The polling was brisk and all 68 members have voted. Independent MLA from Hamipur Ashish was the first to cast his vote. Congress MLA Babloo was brought to the Assembly in a helicopter as he was unwell.
According to the centre, 473 roads were closed while 398 transformers and 38 water supply schemes were disrupted.
